Sales Tax, Deposits, Credit Cards and Refunds
HST stands for Harmonized Sales Tax. This 15% tax is charged on goods and services purchased in Newfoundland and Labrador. When you make a reservation, it’s always a good idea to ask the operator about the cancellation of deposits, what credit cards are accepted, and the establishment’s policies on refunds and late arrivals. Some seasonal operators may have a minimum stay policy in effect, while others do not accept credit cards. If you are asked to pay in advance, it’s always a good idea to ask to see the room first.
